Above is the right section of a oil stick painting I did during a recent Drawing Marathon, taught by Carole Robb, about New York City icons. It is connected to the a piece I'm still working on about the Statue of Liberty and will likely be all one piece when finished. The picture above is a teaser for you all. Enjoy! ;)
This year is looking promising and I am really happy to be here. It's been crazy and busy but great! I'm finally feeling like I belong here and I'm working my ass off. I have so many ideas and there isn't enough time in the day to try them all out! Not a bad problem to have if you ask me. The 13 hr days combining drawing classes, art history, painting, critiques, work, and research are rigorous but incredibly rewarding. I am in Philip Guston's old studio this year and it is a freakin' dream. Here is a pic of it from the fire escape lookin' in...

For anyone interested in planning ahead and coming to my big MFA Thesis Exhibition at the end of this school year, the opening will be May 6, 2009 at the studio school. It will be an amazing show and I will be in the company of some incredible artist's, a couple of whom are in my links list on this blog(Maia and Sam). If you want to take a look at the work and artists that were in last year's exhibition, you can follow this link: http://www.nyss.org/mfa2008/index.html
Also, if you want to hear a bootleg of the first song I sang at 169 Bar last spring, you can go to my Music Page on myspace. My tech savvy friend Adam spliced it from a video for me(thanks again, man. You rule.). On the music side of things, I am doing a lot of listening and working on some songwriting in the studio as well as painting. My plan is to start performing original music after I graduate next May.
I will have more to update soon. In the meantime, I'm getting over a cold -- so I'm sending you all kinds of germy love(the best kind) from here in Brooklyn. Ha!
